Amalgam Removal || Safe Mercury Filling Removal || Newmarket Auckland Dentist

Post by Dr. Clarence P. Tam, HBSc, DDS, FIADFE, AAACD\

It is not always easy to remove mercury fillings safely.  Our standard approach involves hermetically-sealed non-latex rubber dam as well as high suction evacuation, occasionally supplemented with oxygen as necessary.

These fillings featured leakage under the old amalgam restorations and deep recurrent caries/cavities.  They were restored biomimetically (mimicking nature) using the Original SuperComposite: Voco Grandio SO.  Compressive strength: 439MPa (enamel = 384MPa), Flexural strength: 187MPa (dentin = 165.6MPa) and extremely hard Micro Vickers Hardness rating.  This is what we call "white amalgam".
