Temporary fillings are placed for a variety of reasons – either financial constraints, or deep decay in the tooth, which can be arrested and stunted before full removal. This approach is kinder to the nerve and allows for a period of adaptation where the nerve may recede from the area of decay, which if removed initially would have exposed the pulp.
