I finally had the chance to try the long-awaited Butterfly matrix for this Class III repair in conjunction with a composite facial Class IV restoration. This matrix is special in that it is super flexible, acts as both a PTFE strip as well as separating wedge (each side has a different size wedge that you can select according to cervical embrasure size) that allows a more efficient procedure with better mechanical access.
Tip: to prevent crimping, I bisected the matrix band in the region distal to the contact of interest allow for facial and palatal overlap of the lateral incisor which provides in a balanced pull preventing any bunching of the band.
The result was a smooth, easily-finishable restoration that was both efficient had featured a lovely midline contact.
