The adhesive overlay preparation for this tooth #15/2.7 is driven by the location of the defects or existing restorations on the tooth.

For the facial aspect, as the wall was thinner than 3mm, occlusal reduction of 2mm was completed and the margin fashioned with a sloping bevel in order to create a compression dome effect (a.k.a. Milicich).

The palatal aspect featured an amalgam restoration below the height of contour on the axial wall and thus a (heavy) chamfer was designed for this region, which when carried facially blends into the aforementioned bevel.

It is noted that the enamel rods in permanent teeth are cervical to the height of contour are slightly apical in orientation and best served with a chamfer or modified shoulder design.
