This situation shows a long-standing lost restoration in a “still vital” first molar with compensatory mesial drift of the second molar increasing root proximity. After excavation of caries, and recontouring of the mesial axial wall of the second molar, still the only matrix system able to negotiate past the cervical cavosurface margin was an #Ultradent #Omnimatrix. The restoration was completed using a base of incrementally cured XL2 flowable (#HerculiteUltra #Kerr) before layering to completion using #GC #Essentia U. Total chair time 1 hour.
The second premolar is planned for atraumatic exodontia and immediate implant placement (as per the patient’s treatment option decision).
