DIRECT – INDIRECT workflow with these severely-affected molars.
Removal of all old composite restorative material. Decided to do DME and simultaneous distal marginal ridge fabrication with the #UltradentOmnimatrix, but this necessitated axial contouring and shaping prior to full coverage preparation on the second molar. Despite burnishing aggressively, the matrix system was unable to establish a contact on the M of the first molar, so this will likely be corrected in the future when a full coverage restoration is completed for this tooth. We are simply just replacing the core and removing caries at this stage.
