(Afternoon tea pics 1861.2: How to bond to an old PFM)

This lovely 76 year old female presented with a clinically intact, yet esthetically-unacceptable dark root display of tooth #5B.

Bonding to a PFM involves a few steps:
1) Air particle abrasion (29 micron) #Aquacare
2) 5% hydrofluoric acid for 1 minute on the feldspathic porcelain
3) 33% H3PO4 (aq) to remove any etch residue
4) Silane coupling agent (feldspathic) + 10-MDP primer (non-precious metal) (G-MultiPrimer, Clearfil Ceramic Primer)
5) 1 minute stand, no stacking silane (dry)
6) Bond application
7) Layer
8) Opaquer layer mixed with Dentin shaded composite
9) Enjoy this fortune cookie.
