Minimally-Invasive Tuesday continues.  Following up from a few weeks ago, transillumination allows us to discern which aspects of the lesion, if any at all are suitable for correction or partial correction using microabrasion.  In this example, you can appreciate the more translucent aspect of the hypocalcified lesion on the periphery.  We used a 6.6% HCl (aq) silica carbide water soluble slurry (Opaluster, Ultradent) for 1 minute cycles over 4 minutes with a partial removal of the lesion.  The lesion now is a candidate for resin infiltration using a TEGDMA low-viscosity resin.  But in reality, you can’t really see this lesion clinically.

Best,

Clarrie
