Extensive localized attrition on tooth #18/3.7 with insufficient vertical reductive space for an indirect restoration without obliterating what was left of the “barely-there” ferrule. The buccal aspect was completely overlaid with bonded resin and the lingual aspects featured an aggressive bevel to enable bonding to the ends of enamel rods.
Occlusion was controlled with the knowledge that composite is strong in compressive strength but weak in flexural strength/tension, so only centric contacts were designed with no lateral excursive interferences. This case will likely require a deprogrammed OVD increase to a new CRO in the future but we are stabilizing the cores first.
