Sometimes the depth of an existing restoration is so proximal to the alveolar crest and the old restoration so irritating to the tissues that copious bleeding compromises the rubber dam isolation. In this case, local hemostatic agents work in tandem with diode laser recontouring to achieve a dry field for marginal elevation followed by transition to an anatomically contoured sectional matrix system.
