Removal of the amalgam and mesial marginal ridge vertical hairline fracture revealed a heavily-stained dentin base. Recontouring of the indirect ceramic restoration mesial to the second molar was required to optimize the contact shape and strength.
A single shade of Simplishade Dark (Kerr) was utilized after microlayers of XL2 Herculite Ultra flowable to result in the chameleon effect displayed. The matrix system used was Garrison Compositight, very well versed in this type of situation where you need to place a tension ring on your clamped tooth. This is where the blue ring really shines.
