We saw this lovely gentleman to replace a failing ceramic onlay for tooth #3DOL/1.6DOP. With very little recurrent caries discovered under the restoration, which nearly instantaneously debonded with vibration from the preparation, care was taken to establish a well-bonded and coupled hybrid layer. The pulpal floor was microlayered and the dark stain from the past amalgam obscured using multiple layers of XL2 Herculite flowable.

The DP cusp was rebuilt freehand, prior to securing the #Garrison Compositight system with the medium tension ring. As the tooth exhibited moderate horizontal bone loss, there was also a significant cervical embrasure, which required vertically stacking two wedges of different sizes prior to application of the ring.

The marginal ridge was reconstructed, converting the Class II into a Class I, and the occlusal layered using a single shade of the chameleon composite #KerrSimplishadeDark
